Feng Shui Compass by Royal Academic Institute

Feng Shui Compass or Lo Pan is used to examine the facing of a structured building hence to analyze the time factor of Feng Shui.

Feng Shui Masters use a special compass, called the Lo Pan, to accurately determine the direction our homes face. 

The inner circle of the Lo Pan shows the eight houses:

1.) Hum

2.) Gun

3.) Jun

4.) Shon

5.) Lay

6.) Kwan

7.) Doi

8.) Kin

They are set up the same as the Man Wong Ba Gua, which is the temporal analysis.  The houses themselves are within 45 degrees.

Before the Tang Dynasty, (about 618 to 906 a.d.), Feng Shui came under the control of the ruling Emperors. The practice was kept secret from the people under the control of the Feng Shui Masters, as it was felt the Emperors would lose power should Feng Shui become common knowledge.
